DAS (Distributed Acoustic Sensing)
Cutting-Edge Perimeter Security
The Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS)–based Perimeter Intrusion Detection System (PIDS) delivers continuous, invisible, and highly accurate monitoring of large or sensitive perimeters. By converting a standard fiber-optic cable into thousands of virtual acoustic sensors, the system enables real-time detection and precise localization of intrusion activities, even in environments where conventional security technologies are limited or impractical.
System Description
The system operates by transmitting high-frequency laser pulses through a fiber-optic cable installed underground, on fences, or in a hybrid configuration. Any vibration or mechanical disturbance - such as human movement, vehicle passage, excavation, fence tampering, or cutting -causes subtle changes in the backscattered light within the fiber. These signals are analyzed instantly using advanced algorithms to identify the nature of the event and its exact location. The solution provides reliable performance day and night and is unaffected by darkness, adverse weather conditions, or electromagnetic interference.
System Characteristics
Continuous 24/7 perimeter monitoring over long distances using a single central unit
High-accuracy event localization, typically within 5–10 meters
Detection and classification of multiple threat types, including walking, vehicles, digging, and fence manipulation
No electronic components deployed in the field; the fiber-optic cable itself functions as the sensor
Flexible installation options: buried, fence-mounted, or hybrid
Low maintenance requirements and reduced false alarms compared to point-sensor systems
Seamless integration with video surveillance, security management platforms, alarms, lighting, and automated response systems
Reliable operation in complex terrain and harsh environmental conditions
